YMCA VP Receives Andrew Young Award
Fernán R. Cepero, Vice President of Human Resources for the YMCA in Rochester received the YMCA of the USA Andrew Young Award at the YMCA Diversity Champion Conference at the historic National Underground Railroad Freedom Center in Cincinnati, Ohio. The award is given to an individual who has demonstrated a deep level of commitment to creating an environment of inclusion for people of many different dimensions of diversity, within both the YMCA and the community. Fernan was recognized for being a role model to others of truly valuing diversity that has resulted in lasting, systemic change within the YMCA of Greater Rochester and also the YMCA of the USA national diversity initiative. Dr. Nay Molloy Howell, Diversity Specialty Consultant for the YMCA of the USA, stated that "Fernan has inspired us and others to reach for a dream of true inclusion within the YMCA movement and the communities served by the YMCA."
