Hispanic Business Magazine Honors Gándara
Marilda L. Gándara, president of the Aetna Foundation, has been named to Hispanic Business magazine's 2005 Corporate Elite directory of 25 influential Hispanics in American corporations. As head of the independent charitable organization, she represents Aetna on corporate citizenship issues and acts as liaison to private, nonprofit and public service organizations.
In 2004, Aetna and the Foundation contributed $17.5 million in grants and sponsorships to enrich communities nationwide.
Gándara has served in leadership roles for numerous organizations, including Hispanics in Philanthropy, Hartford's Wadsworth Atheneum Museum of Art, the Bushnell Performing Arts Center and the Independent Sector. Connecticut's governor and legislature appointed her to serve as the finance trustee for two years with the state-controlled Hartford Board of Education.
