The YMCA of Greater Rochester Enhancement of Diversity Scholarship Winners for 2010. The awards were presented at the YMCA's annual meeting on Wednesday, May 19, 2010 at the Rochester Riverside Convention Center. The winners are Natalie Palmer and Chester Shellman.
The purpose of the program is to provide financial assistance and quality work experience to college students who can contribute to the diversity of the YMCA and who are potential candidates for professional employment with the YMCA. The student must have a strong interest in YMCA involvement and postgraduate career interest in the YMCA.
Natalie Palmer: Natalie is a senior at East High School, and plans to attend Genesee Community College in the fall. Her teachers and coaches describe her as an excellent role model who genuinely cares about people, using her sense of humor and enthusiasm to help others.
Chester Shellman: Chester Shellman is a graduate of Benjamin Franklin High School and currently attends Monroe Community College. Chester’s teachers and co-workers describe him as a mature, hard working student who is an asset to his school and community. He plans to further his college education with the assistance of this scholarship, and hopes to pursue a career that will allow him to work with children, which is his true passion.
